Ryan: My name is Ryan Barr and I am founder of Whipping Post
THE/STUDIO: What does your business do?
Ryan: We make uncommonly durable bags and leather goods.
THE/STUDIO: That’s awesome! What have you learned since starting your business?
Ryan: How to work with people and how to constantly refine my process.
THE/STUDIO: What about your business are you most proud of?
Ryan: Being a bootstrapped business. I literally started with a few hundred bucks and never took on any money. To get this far has been extremely gratifying.
THE/STUDIO: Wow! That is something to be proud of! What are some of the greatest challenges you face with your business?
Ryan: Spreading the word is always difficult for a small business. There’s also forecasting issues. You never know what will be a hit.
THE/STUDIO: Where do you see your business in 10 years?
Ryan: A greatly expanded line and perhaps more brick and mortar presence.
THE/STUDIO: What type of legacy do you want to leave?
Ryan: An ethical business that treats it employees well and is loved by our customers.
THE/STUDIO: That’s a great and important legacy to leave. What is the story behind the custom product that you produced with THE/STUDIO?
Ryan: I like to include a patch and a post card with a little note with every bag we make. Its just a nice little personal touch.
