Biergarten Haus
Meet Warren Hedderich
THE/STUDIO: Introduce yourself. Tell our readers a little bit about who you are!
Warren: This is Biergarten Haus. Not your typically foreign themed restaurant. We proudly present you our authentic German restaurant in the heart of the nation’s capital. Established in 2010, Biergarten Haus has ever since been known for its commitment to stay true to its name. We are all about the German beers and food. A Biergarten is a social gathering place outdoors. People meet, converse and enjoy a nice brew or two underneath the shades of tall trees. Share tables with strangers and you are guaranteed to have a good time and walk out with new friends!
THE/STUDIO: What does Biergarten Haus do?
Warren: We serve premium imported German brews from the south to the north. Accompanied by traditional fare, the taste of Germany awaits you. Known as a football (soccer) viewing destination, we proudly invite all fans to join, show their colors and meet other true sport fans. Bundesliga to MLS, we cover them all.
THE/STUDIO: What have you learned since starting your business?
Warren: Ever since our opening in 2010, we as a company and neighborhood have grown incredible. As we got situated, we quickly learned how important it is to adapt to the demands and needs of this ever changing neighborhood.
THE/STUDIO: What about your restaurant are you most proud of?
Warren: We are proud of helping revitalize this history rich neighborhood. When we first opened, we were one out of four places taking a chance and opening a new restaurant on this great street. Now five years later, over 100 new businesses have opened over this fourteen block strip, which is now forming the new H Street and is continuing to attract new development and infrastructure.
THE/STUDIO: Wow! That is amazing. What are some of the greatest challenges you face with your business?
Warren: Change always is a good thing, but it also takes a lot of patience. The neighborhood is changing and in a city like Washington D.C., you always have to prepare for change and adapt.
THE/STUDIO: Where do you see Biergarten Haus in 10 years?
Warren: All along H Street we see new businesses open up and plenty of residential buildings in the work. We started planning back in 2006 and it took us four years to accomplish the opening. Over the past years we have expanded and business has continuously grown from year to year. Of course we hope to keep that trend going.
THE/STUDIO: What type of legacy do you want to leave?
Warren: One thing we have always been proud of is the collaboration with other businesses, neighborhood associations and being a place where the community gathers to enjoy their time off.
THE/STUDIO: What is the story behind the custom product that you produced with THE/STUDIO ?
Warren: After five years it was time to revamp our work uniforms. Rather than ordering screen printed t-shirts in bulk, we thought it would be really cool to give our employees the option to choose what to wear. The only thing we require would be to have the company logo on the chest of their choice. UNDER ARMOR, NIKE and REEBOK we have so many great shirts and Polo’s to choose from, the patch ordered thru THE/STUDIO, was the perfect solution.
THE/STUDIO: Do you have any promotions you would like to offer our community?
Warren: Biergarten Haus would gladly offer 10% off their bill total (happy hour excluded) to all THE/STUDIO NEWSLETTER sign ups.
THE/STUDIO: Do you have any upcoming events that our community members can attend?
Warre n: Oktoberfest is right around the corner. Official start is Sept 19th @ noon. Festivities will be held throughout the day. Tuesday night’s we host DC’s #1 rated Trivia night @ 8pm on the roof-deck.
Thank you Warren for sharing your story with us! If we are ever in the Washington DC area we will be sure to stop by for some beer and schnitzel! Cheers!
